If you love history and culture, Is-sur-Tille will get your attention… Highly prized for a long time by the Dukes of Burgundy who devoted themselves to their favourite occupation, hunting, the commune has kept some memories of this precious heritage. The historic heart of the city is protected by a perimeter that includes the castle, the Charbonnel asylum, the Saint-Léger church and some private mansions with interesting facades. You can enjoy the pleasant promenade of Capucins along the Courtines or strolling along the rivers. The Tourist Office of the valleys of Tille and Ignon also invites you to discover the history of the stone of Is-sur-Tille. Used in the region of Tilles as in Dijon for the construction of several buildings, this limestone is known for its resistance to water and frost. It was used in particular for wells curbstones, to build the monolithic baptismal tank of the Romanesque church of Til-Châtel in the 12th century, but also in various ways for the Saint-Léger church of Is-sur-Tille.
