Religious processions, masked dances, games, betting and strong local alcohol make for a very good-natured festival!
In one of the most authentic valleys of Bhutan, Ura Monastery hosts an annual festival with a very... local atmosphere! Legend has it that an old lady from the valley was visited by a lama who, in exchange for a glass of water, left a bag in front of her house. Inside was a relic, which has been passed down from generation to generation and which is exhibited every year during this festival. The dates are set only a few weeks in advance and the event can therefore take place in April.
