Monument erected in memory of Martha Christina Tiahabu, a national heroine and freedom fighter, to be visited in Ambon.

Martha Christina Tiahahu is a national heroine and freedom fighter. She fought alongside her father to resist Dutch colonialism in the archipelago. When her father was executed by the Dutch on the island of Nusalaut, she was taken to Java to work on the tea and coffee plantations. She refused all food offered by the Dutch crew and died on January 2, 1818 at the age of 18. Her body was thrown into the Banda Sea.
