JÓN SIGURÐSON MUSEUM
The birthplace of the leader of the independence movement, Jon Siguroson
Hrafnseyri is little more than a farm in Arnarfjörður Fjord, named after the clan chief, Hrafn Sveinbjarnarson, who lived there in the 12th century. It was also the birthplace of the leader of the independence movement, Jòn Sigurðson (17 June 1811). A church and a museum were built in 1979 to celebrate the centenary of his death. The museum includes a collection of photographs. It is also possible to stop here for a snack in the adjoining café, with delicious homemade cakes, the perfect break!
