Hamelin Pool is one of the only places in the world where marine stromatolites can be observed along with Lake Thetis near Cervantes. These microorganisms, considered living fossils, represent the oldest form of life on Earth, they already existed 3.5 billion years ago, then the dominant form of life on Earth. They probably contributed to the creation of our oxygen-rich atmosphere and the ozone layer that allowed the development of terrestrial life.

Little impressive at first sight, it is a beautiful beach strewn with rocks and then you realise that these rocks are actually present from 3 billion and half years and are composed of living beings! Woah!
