CASTLE OF KLÁŠTEREC NAD OHŘÍ (ZÁMEK)
In this area, a convent was built successively, and a farmhouse was built (th century). The first castle dates back to 1623. It was a beautiful Renaissance building covered with sgraffites. But many transformations, even reconstructions, took place. Its current, pseudo-Gothic appearance dates back to 1860. In front of the castle you will see a beautiful Sala Terrana, decorated by statues of Jan Brokoff. The castle is a pretty small ensemble. He is first known for the porcelain exhibition that has been there since 1953. This exhibition is not here by chance, since the castle belonged to the Thun family (from 1623) which built its wealth from the th century through the production of porcelain. The history of Czech and European porcelain is presented here remarkably. We will also see some Chinese and Japanese coins. You will also appreciate the beautiful English garden and its rare essences. It is on the edge of the Ohře River and it is really good to walk in the summer.
