LEMBERK CASTLE (ZÁMEK)
At the beginning, there was a medieval castle (a fortress) belonging to the Markvartici family, linked to Saint Zdislava, patron of the poor and sick.
It was between 1660 and 1680 that he acquired his current appearance, his primary baroque style. It is presented to us today very well. The interiors remain baroque with beautiful xvie furniture in the xviiie. The Bejkový room (fables) is the most interesting. Its ceiling has been decorated since 1608 by 77 scenes from the fables of Ésope. The chapel of the so-called «descent of the Holy Spirit on the apostles» is also visited. Or the impressive kitchens, which have remained almost intact since the seventeenth century.
