OFFICE DU TOURISME DU CANAL BAŤA
The Baťa Canal, located between the Czech towns of Kroměříž and Hodonín, has become a popular tourist attraction in recent years. Visitors can enjoy a cruise on the Morava River aboard a boat or barge, while admiring the surrounding castles and nature reserves. The Moravian region of Slovakia, through which the Baťa Canal runs, was even awarded European Tourist Destination of Excellence in 2011. The Baťa Canal was built in 1935 by Tomáš Baťa, founder of the famous Bata shoe brand, to transport brown coal from the Ratíškovice mines to the Otrokovice thermal power plant. The canal is 51.8 km long and features over 13 locks, as well as numerous bridges and underpasses. Visitors can cruise by boat or bike, and enjoy the region's wine landscapes and historic towns. The Baťa Canal offers a unique experience for nature and culture lovers.
