The isolated islet seen off the beach was named "Sweatheart Rock" after a sad Lanai legend. A jealous husband hid his wife, Pehe, in a cave on this island to keep her away from other men. One stormy day, a wave broke over the rock and drowned the beautiful woman. Her grief-stricken husband buried her on top of the rock before throwing himself into the void... In spite of the tragic aspect of this legend, many proposals of marriage are made since, at the top of this rock.
