ECUMENICAL CHURCH OF ST. MICHAEL
Located less than 5 km from the city centre of Colmar, this jewel of the communal patrimony of Horbourg-Wihr is worth a visit! The th century medieval chapel was extended in the th century by the lords of Ribeaupierre (established on Route Heights) when they became legatees following the gift of the Habsburg Habsbourg from Austria. Their coats of arms are carved in stone, which is a remarkable historical fact since it is very rare to find noble coats of nobility on a religious building. The square tower is the only part of the church to have never suffered the vicissitudes of history, particularly those of the Thirty Years War and the two world wars. This small church has three curiosities. In his choir, interesting murals of 1511 (fully preserved) were declared historic monument while Alsace belonged to the Reichsland. On 15 m and in 9 scenes the legend of St. Marguerite of Antioch, brought back from the Crusades by the Ribeaupierre. You can't overlook the magnificent modern stained glass windows made by the master-glass verrier Tristan Ruhlmann in the 1950 s, giving a glimpse of the history of the Bible. As for the organ of the Rinckenbach factor, it was completely restored in 2000.
