CARMELITE CLOISTER
Discover this cloister of the former Carmelite convent which is a good example of Renaissance architecture
It's the oldest part of Olot. Built in 1603 by the architect Llàtzer Cisterna, this cloister of the former Carmelite convent is also a good example of Renaissance architecture. It is composed of a closed courtyard of more than 1,000 m² and 2 floors under arcades. The 4 galleries on the ground floor and one of those on the first floor are from the same period, while the 3 other wings are probably from the following century, and are built with more modest materials. For almost 200 years it has housed the headquarters of the Olot School of Arts and Crafts.
