MONTSACOPA VOLCANO
A 45-minute walk on the Montsacopa volcano allows you to climb to its summit, with a beautiful view of the surroundings
Located to the north of the town, close to the Garrinada volcano, the Montsacopa volcano (120 m diameter, 523 m altitude) is 100,000 years old. It is the youngest volcano in La Garrotxa. It's easily accessible from the town center, and a 45-minute walk takes you to its summit, where you'll enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding area. The Sant Francesc church (17th c.) and two watchtowers dating from the First Carlist War (1833-1839) have been built on its flank. The volcano is also sometimes referred to as the Sant Francesc volcano.
