Festivities around the bee(buyog): costumes, choreographies and parades. It is one of the highlights of the island of Leyte.
The festival takes its name from the term Buyog which means "bee" and also gave its name to Abuyog, the town where the festivities take place, a few kilometers from Tacloban. Known as one of the best festivals in the archipelago, the Buyogan Festival is the pride of the people of Leyte Island. For the occasion, parades are organized during which participants parade in bee costumes, each one more beautiful than the other, and produce choreographies imitating the movements of this majestic insect.
