The Yumepa Ticket is the magic ticket, the one that will open the doors of the seven public onsen in Kinosaki. It is not necessary to buy it if you stay in the city. Indeed, hotels provide their guests with this pass free of charge and it will be valid from check-in until 3:30 pm on the day of check-out. For day visitors only, it will cost you 1,300 ¥pour adults and 650 ¥pour children. This ticket will also allow you to benefit from discounts in several restaurants, shops and tourist sites.
GOSHONO-YU. 448 Yushima. Open from 7am to 11pm. Closed on Thursdays. Adults: ¥700. Children: ¥350. The waters of this onsen would bring luck in love and protect against fires. This establishment only offers outdoor baths, from which one can relax by contemplating the vegetation and enjoying the sound of the waterfall. This bath, recently renovated, is a must
ICHINO-YU. 415-1 Yushima. Open from 7am to 11pm. Closed on Wednesdays. Adults: ¥700. Children: ¥350. Ichino-yu means 'bath number one'. It is said to have been named after a doctor, during the Edo period, noted its best health benefits. It is said to bring luck and success and protect against road accidents . Private family baths for hire at ¥3,150 per 40 minutes.
JIZŌ-YU. 796 Yushima. Open from 7am to 11pm. Closed on Fridays. Adults: ¥700. Children: ¥350. The shape of the building is inspired by that of a Japanese lantern and the hexagonal windows are reminiscent of the geometric formations of the caves at Genbudō. It is a very popular onsen with locals and many families come here to relax at the end of the day. Legend has it that the waters of this onsen are said to protect families. Private family baths can be rented at ¥3,150 per 40 minutes.
KŌNO-YU. 610 Yushima. Open from 7am to 11pm. Closed on Tuesdays. Adults: ¥700. Children: ¥350. Although the building is not period, it is said to be the oldest spring in Kinosaki. It is said to have been discovered when a stork was seen bathing there to heal its wounds. Its waters would bring happiness in marriage and long life. A little away from the town centre, one can bathe in an atmosphere of calm and serenity, surrounded by nature.
MANDARA-YU. 565 Yushima. Open from 3pm to 11pm. Closed on Wednesdays. Adults: ¥700. Children: ¥350. The outdoor baths, in pretty oval ceramic vats, have a very pleasant and relaxing smell. It is from this spring that the waters would have gushed out after Dôchi Shônin's prayers. Its waters would bring good luck in business and agriculture.
SATONO-YU. 290-36 Imazu. Open from 1pm to 9pm. Closed on Monday. Adults: ¥800. Children: ¥400. Located near the train station, this establishment has a very beautiful panoramic view from its onsen installed on the roof, on the second floor. Visitors will also appreciate the herbal sauna.
YANAGI-YU. 647 Yushima. Open from 3pm to 11pm. Closed on Thursdays. Adults: ¥700. Children: ¥350. Yanagi means "weeping willow" in Japanese and the establishment is named after the one in front of its porch. The waters of this onsen are said to promote fertility and the birth of healthy children. The walls and baths are made of cypress wood.
