CENTRE FOR TRADITIONAL ARTS
This cultural center has everything of the small village. Situated on the riverside on a 24-hectare site, the NCTA (National Center for Traditional Arts), which only opened its doors in 2002, has a dual vocation: to preserve the region's cultural heritage, but also to promote it among the new generation of artists. No discrimination, it is as much about Taiwanese opera, born in Ilan, as it is about woodwork, sculpture or painting. The centre is therefore both a showcase for Ilanian arts and a learning centre where artists live and hone their skills. But the center of the visit is a museum that exhibits the old and current creations of Taiwanese artists. Thanks to a playful visit, you will discover a panel of works of the best in the province. Then, in a small cobbled street, a succession of craft shops with the appearance of yesteryear opens onto a Wen-Chang temple, built in the respect of traditions and intended for students in exams. The opportunity to meet a wide range of people, from mop students to members of the local arts community. You can also stroll in the gardens in the centre, very pleasant in good weather. Opposite the entrance to the centre, a restaurant is a nice attraction in itself, as you can fish in the pond for the fish you are about to eat. A visit not to be missed!
