WILHERING ABBEY (STIFT WILHERING)
An abbey founded in the century under Cistercian rule, the beautiful church with its lavish rococo decoration is well worth a visit.
Founded in the 12th century under the austere Cistercian rule, the abbey was destroyed by fire in the middle of the 18th century, at the height of the Rococo fever. Today, the church is a perfect example of Rococo decoration, one of the most beautiful in Austria, with a particularly rich interior, overloaded as it should be, but completely dazzling. If you don't visit the abbey, you can enter the church and enjoy the decor.
