EILEAN DONAN CASTLE
Before you reach Skye, finish your journey through this place which served as a backdrop to the Highlander film. Saint Donan had established his chapel and the castle belonged to the MacKenzie. Since the Spanish settled in 1719, the government forces destroyed the building. This is now the headquarters of MacRae. Set in the kitchen and daily life of the castle very successful.
The ferry then awaits you to Kyle of Lochalsh or to the village of Glenelg (Bifurcation Bridge on the A 87), where two well-preserved brochs are located. These forts, built by the Picts towards the Fifth or Century century, are recognizable with their very peculiar cylindrical shape. In summer, to try to avoid a long wait, choose the ferry from Glenelg. Since spring 1996, the Kyle of Lochalsh ferry has been replaced by a toll bridge (£ 4,70 for a car) not far from the village.
