DEN TILSANDEDE KIRKE (THE SANDY CHURCH)
This 45-metre-long building, which was once an important landmark, offers a fine view of the astonishing landscape that surrounds it.
Beautiful view on the amazing landscape surrounding the site. Sand and pines on one side, desolate moorland on the other and, in the distance, the town and the port. Only the white bell tower (22 m high, with stepped gables) of the Saint-Laurent church remains, because the sand has devoured all the rest, between the beginning of the 17th and the end of the 18th century. It was an important building, 45 m long, but a royal decree finally ended the battle against sand and wind, and the church was destroyed in 1795.
