LES ÉTANGS D'OR, PARC ÉCO-LOISIRS OF MERCEUIL-TAIILY
The place is not only exceptional for the wealth it now contains but also especially for its incredible reconversion. Indeed, in the 1960s, the site was used for the aggregate extraction to build the A6 highway. Then transformed into fishing grounds but especially into an uncontrolled landfill... Until the Communauté d’Agglomération Beaune Côte et Sud took control of it. This eco-entertainment park is a natural space arranged for family walk, fishing and discovery of the local fauna and flora, a few minutes only from the downtown of Beaune! Follow the explanatory panels and discover the exceptional wealth of the biodiversity. The park extends on more than 200 hectares and account 16 stretches of water. From the observatories, admire the herons, kingfishers, Eurasian coots and the whole wildlife typical of the region. It is also possible to fish in the few 12 dedicated stretches of water. Disabled people are welcome on the site where picnic tables and fishing pontoons have been especially arranged for them. Children also have playgrounds at their disposal.
