Site including Charles Lindbergh's childhood home and museum tracing his life after leaving Little Falls
Head down to the pretty village of Little Falls to discover the childhood home of Charles Lindbergh, national hero and Minnesota's pride and joy. It was acquired by his father, Charles A. Lindbergh (known as C.A.) in the early 1900s. Charles left his childhood home in 1920 to begin his university studies, and returned only once thereafter: in 1923, when he landed aboard his Curtiss JN-4! Renovated in 2002 and furnished with the help of Lindbergh himself, the house is presented according to the aviator's memories. You can see his bedroom - with a balcony overlooking the banks of the Mississippi - and the kitchen. In this house surrounded by greenery and bordered by the Mississippi, it's easy to understand Lindbergh's fascination with nature, and the communion he sought with it. After his career as a pilot, he became involved in the preservation of American nature and the establishment of national parks. In the museum adjacent to the house, we discover the rest of his life, after he left Little Falls: the solo crossing of the Atlantic in 1927 (at the age of 25), of course, but also the dark times with his affinities with Nazi Germany and the death of his child, a tragic event that helped put the Lindbergh family in the spotlight. A comprehensive and fascinating site, with numerous films, photos and artifacts.
