MAHMUD GAWAN MADRASA
A former Koranic university built in 1472 with funds provided by the Prime Minister of the Bahamian Empire, a must-see
This old Koranic university was built in 1472 with the own funds of the Prime Minister of the Bahamani Empire Mahumd Gawan. The mosque had a symmetrical plan. During his conquests, Aurangzeb passed through Bidar and installed a cavalry regiment in the madrasa. The ammunition was stored in a wing of the building, which accidentally exploded. Half of the building went up in smoke. The other half can still be admired and bears witness to a past splendor, notably the glazed tiles that partially cover the minaret.
