El Día del Boyero (the day of the oxen and ox carts) is celebrated every second Sunday of March in San Antonio de Escazú.
Every second Sunday in March, San Antonio de Escazú celebrates el Día del Boyero (the day of the oxcart driver). On this day, residents take to the streets to pay homage to Costa Rica's history of using ox carts for centuries to transport crops throughout the country. The occasion includes parades, parades of colorful carts, blessing of livestock and crops. Stalls are set up to sell delicious local food, arts and crafts.
