FORMER MURSAULT LEPROSARIUM
Founded in the 12th century by Duke Hughes II of Burgundy, in Meursault, the leprosarium consists of three parts: the portery, which is located at the entrance, the chapel and the large patient room. Later, the building was transformed into a hospital in order to accommodate the sick and the poor. In the 19th century, the building became a relay for diligence and was finally converted into an agricultural farm. Successive transformations that have modified the site. In 2012, the municipality of Meursault began a major phase of work to rehabilitate the building and restore it to its original state. Today the work is finished, after four years of work. The chapel with its nave and choir and the large room for the poor have been completely restored. A completely new extension has been added to include a reception room, sanitary facilities and technical rooms. A conservatory orchard has been set up in the enclosure. The chapel and the gatehouse are listed as historic monuments. Guided tours by the tourist office are possible. The majestic place can be rented for cultural events.
