Monastery with an abbey church of baroque architecture with gardens and a Mozarabic chapel
Founded in 936 and modified in the 17th and 18th centuries, it is one of the most beautiful monasteries in Galicia, especially the nave of its abbey church. The work of Melchor de Velasquo (17th century), this church is considered one of the most perfect of Baroque architecture. In the gardens, don't miss the San Miguel chapel, a jewel of Mozarabic art. The façade of the mosteiro leads to the two most important squares of the city: the Plaza Mayor, to the west, and the Alameda, to the south.
