15 m deep cavity with the only example of prehistoric paintings in the region
Near the village of Froseira, at an altitude of 450 meters, the Cueva del Demo offers the only example of prehistoric paintings in the region. It is a 15 m deep cavity, decorated with red paintings of various shades, which represent animals and anthropomorphic figures. It was also a shelter for cattle and a refuge during the Spanish Civil War. It is not open to the public, but you can see what it contains by following a route marked outside (information at the Boal Tourist Office).
