The charming square of the Vrijdagmarkt (literally, "Friday market") is home to a host of antique stalls. It's an informal market where you can hunt for wonders from the Flemish past: antique furniture in regional styles, particularly wood, knick-knacks, ceramics, silverware, glassware, vinyl, books... the rare specimen of a gift to offer on your return from Belgium! The furniture is auctioned here. At the time of writing, the square is undergoing major renovations, and the market is due to reopen once these are completed.
