The history of this library, named after the Flemish writer Hendrick Conscience, whose statue adorns the façade, dates back to 1481. Today, it houses over 1.5 million books! The guided tour opens the doors to the most beautiful rooms, normally closed to the public: the majestic Nottebohm Room, where objects and old books are on display, the microfilm room and, of course, the reading room! A journey through time and the history of Flemish literature.
