HOUSE OF THE VIRGINS (MAAGDENHUIS)
Museum dedicated to the history of orphanages in a former home for destitute women, founded by Hendrik Suderman.
In 1353, a house for destitute women was founded here. Two centuries later, it became a school for poor girls, supported by donations of both money and works of art. The Maagdenhuis collection therefore includes not only everyday objects, but also paintings, furniture and Antwerp earthenware... Undergoing restoration, it will be partially opened in 2025 to exhibit the masterpieces of the Mayer van den Bergh Museum, closed for renovation.
