VLAEYKENSGANG
Narrow but pleasant passage connecting the Hoogstraat, the Pelgrimstraat and the Oude Koornmarkt, streets formerly occupied by shoemakers
A small and very pleasant narrow passage from the 16th century that connects the Hoogstraat, the Pelgrimstraat and the Oude Koornmarkt (street number 16). Initially inhabited by shoemakers, these streets were almost demolished in the 1960s but were finally - and fortunately - restored. Hidden by doors, it gives the impression of being a thousand leagues away from bustling Antwerp. Extremely photogenic, this bubble of calm is home to art galleries, antique shops and a gastronomic restaurant with a charming terrace: Sir Anthony Van Dijck.
