CASTLE OF MONT-SAINT-JEAN
The medieval village of Mont-Saint-Jean has a history that was built in the 12th century with the rich lords of the time. They built the magnificent fortified castle of Mont-Saint-Jean in the Serein Valley to control access to it at the time. The village has a lot of charm and it is by taking the time to stroll through its small streets that you will discover the remains of the past. Better still, if you can, don't hesitate to follow Christiane who offers you guided tours, she is inexhaustible and shares with you the secrets of the history of the castle but also of the village and its old residences, a history that she always enriches herself with passion. The village has a beautiful 12th century church, a manor house, dovecotes, laundries but also and above all this feudal castle. It is one of the oldest models of military architecture of the time in Burgundy. The owners have not closed their doors to visitors, quite the contrary. Very hospitable, they allow these free visits programmed and guided. It is necessary to take the time to stop at Mont-Saint-Jean, if only to admire the view of the Morvan from the highest points of the building.
