SINT-GUMMARUSKERK
Flamboyant gothic collegiate church built in 200 years, since 1378, hence the gothic lower parts and the rococo tower roof
The flamboyant Gothic collegiate church of Saint-Gommaire was built between the 14th and 16th centuries. Work began in 1378 and took around 200 years to complete! That's why the lower parts are pure Gothic, the middle Baroque and the roof of the tower Rococo. You can admire its majesty and its beautiful interior, especially the splendid white sandstone rood screen. On October 20, 1496, the marriage of Philippe le Bel and Jeanne de Castille was blessed here. Please note: the collegiate church is under renovation until 2029.
