Montbard City Hall is a beautiful building of 1850. You will soon notice that the bell tower houses Jacquemarts. They are characters and more specifically carved machines tasked to ring the bell to indicate hours. Those of Montbard were given by the Duke of Burgundy, Philip the Good, in 1430. They had several different places in the city before being definitively installed in the city hall bell tower at the end of the nineteenth century. Good to know, the Jacquemarts of Montbard are classified as Historical Monument.
