Baroque church with decorated interior, founded in 1669 by the Jesuit order, confessionals with woodcarving from Mechelen
This beautiful and harmonious Baroque church (17th century) was founded in 1669 by the Jesuit order. After the abolition of the Jesuit order, it later became a parish church. The interior is richly decorated, 14 confessionals are examples of Mechelen woodcarving. The pulpit symbolizes the missionary work of St. Francis Xavier on the four continents, because at that time Oceania was not yet the fifth continent. Europe is presented, with the horn of plenty and the wisdom of the book.
