ST. JOSEPH'S CHURCH
A church just across the street from the Wellington Museum, topped by a large dome, dedicated in 1690, located in downtown Waterloo
Waterloo is also worthwhile for its downtown. Take a look at this church, which is right across the street from the Wellington Museum. The Royal Chapel, surmounted by a large dome, was inaugurated in 1690, in the presence of the Spanish Governor General. The latter had dedicated it to his sovereign, King Charles II of Spain, in the hope - which did not come true - that he would have male offspring. In 1817, this chapel took the name of the Battle Memorial Temple, when 27 funeral plaques were affixed to it to commemorate the allied victims of these battles.
