OLD MILL AND BLAST FURNACE
A building that bears witness to the very short industrial history of Mirebeau. If the main building located along the Bèze dates back to the th century, the superb blast furnace housed in its midst was installed in the th century. A beautiful bill, it is to be seen absolutely, for who is interested in the industrial heritage. It was the Duchess of Saulx-Tavannes who set out the desire to install the furnace in the old mill, and it took place in 1830. About workers worked inside the blast furnace, about outside. The oven manufactured by Licey-Duchon operated with a piston system that operated thanks to a hydraulic wheel, thirty thousand cubic metres of wood were burned annually to make up to 1 000 tons of cast iron! It was precisely the supply of fuel - wood - and iron ore that sounded the end of this great machine in 1858.
