RURAL MUSEUM OF OLD-FASHIONED CARPENTRY
Rural museum that presents the tools of the carpenter and traces the life of the craftsman in the last century in Ploegsteert
To come here, you have to love wood! This rural museum, launched in 2005 by the enthusiast Marcel Leplat, presents the carpenter's tools and traces the life of the craftsman in the last century: adze to plane wood, riflard to roughen boards, bevels.... The list is long and reflects the complexity of the job, which required a great deal of patience and attention to detail, as well as a perfect command of each of the many tools with unique shapes and functions. In addition to these objects (about 2,000!), the museum presents postcards from the city of Ploegsteert before the declaration of war and after the 1918 armistice.
