ECOMUSEUM OF INLAND NAVIGATION - THUDO
Ecomuseum telling the history of shipbuilding, the different towing techniques and the daily life of the boatmen.
Fitted out on board a barge, the Thudo, moored at the Quai de la Sambre, this ecomuseum tells the story of shipbuilding, the different towing techniques and the daily life of the boatmen. It is said that it was two brothers from Thuin who were the first to link Paris by river in 1835. Until the middle of the 20th century, the boatmen were the driving force behind the economy and life in Thuin. Up to 1,100 boatmen were counted as having Thuin as their home port.
