TOURIST BUREAU
Tourist office that offers City Passes and Unesco guided tours, located in a mansion in Tournai
The tourism office moved in an ancient mansion. The splendid white building facing the north facade of the cathedral has been completely renovated and is a space up to the expectations of the historical heritage of Tournai. Its contemporary architecture is impressive, more particularly the entry hall with its golden mirror of 7 m by 4.3 m which reflect the cathedral in pixelised image. You will find beside the reception, a shop, a Wi-Fi spot, a versatile room where paintings of Joseph Lacasse, painter from Tournai are hung. The auditorium projects two movies: Le Couloir du Temps which relates 2,000 years of the town's history and; De la Pierre au Ciel devoted to the history of the cathedral. The latter is covered by Frederick Gersal. Finally, the vaulted cellars –remains of the former 12th century canonry– have been set to accommodate exhibitions. The tourism office offers local tours at low prices by the means of different "City Pass" packages. It also organises guided tours or the "Tour Unesco" and the museums.
