ST QUENTIN'S CHURCH
Church of Romanesque style in Tournai, where two statues representing the Virgin and the archangel Gabriel are installed
At the end of the town's Grand-Place stands the Romanesque Saint-Quentin church, built in the 12th century. The presence of the transept and the vaulted choir highlight the transition from the Romanesque to the Gothic period. In 1464, Pasquier Grenier, a wealthy weaver, had the alleyway and three chapels added to it. It was unfortunately badly damaged by a bombing in 1940. The large organ, installed in the right transept, dates from 1987. In 2010, two statues representing the Virgin and the Archangel Gabriel were installed.
