FOLK MUSEUM
A true conservatory of local memory, from the end of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century in Tournai
A veritable repository of local memory from the late 19th to the mid-20th century, the Musée de Folklore (1930) is also known as "La Maison Tournaisienne". Housed in two picturesque buildings dating from the late 17th century, the museum showcases Tournaisian folklore from A to Z. You'll also find a facsimile of the large 1701 relief plan showing how the town looked in the time of Louis XIV, with the Sun King's superb citadel. Staged scenes of weaving looms of yesteryear, paintings and texts explaining local traditions.
