ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
Museum with exceptional local and regional collections ranging from prehistory to the Middle Ages
Housed in the former pawn shop, which we owe to Wenceslas Cobergher (1622), this museum has exceptional local and regional collections ranging from prehistory to the Middle Ages. One of the masterpieces is a Gallo-Roman sarcophagus from the 4th century. In addition, objects dating back to the time of the Salian Franks are also on display. They were found in the cemetery where the tomb of Childeric I, father of the famous Frankish king Clovis, was discovered. Celtic coins, ceramics and antique jewellery are beautifully presented.
