BARCHON FORT
Intact air tower fort, reflecting the evolution of military architecture since the late 19th century, adventure trail
Fort Barchon was the first to surrender, on August 8, 1914. In 1940, however, its resistance was more substantial. Visitors can follow the evolution of military architecture since the end of the 19th century, through the refurbishments of the inter-war period, and paintings and decorations by soldiers. One of the fort's unique features is its intact air tower, through which the exit is made. The tour lasts around 3 hours, and helmets must be worn. The fort has also been converted into an adventure course.
