QUATUOR
This isn't a design story. It's a business story. Quatuor is the brainchild of four young HEC graduates. In 2004, they decided to open a store. At the outset, they knew next to nothing about the business. And that's exactly what made the difference. In their Battice outlet, they offer European labels (furniture and decor) and small producers, without necessarily aiming for the star designer or the buzz signature. Their approach is personal, very much a family affair. They invent their craft as they go along. The quartet also has a strong presence at events in the region. In 2009, Quatuor collaborated with the Francofolies de Spa, designing the festival's lounge areas. The other big idea of Quatuor's creators was to take over social networks (before anyone else did) and sell online. It's been a huge success! Just recently, one of their suppliers - the Belgian company Ethnicraft, owner of Portes d'Orient stores - bought Quatuor. By the time this guide is published, the brand will be national (with outlets in Marche-en-Famenne, Wavre...). Eventually, the Battice store will move to Awans. As for the four founders, they have already embarked on other adventures...
