BATTICE FORT
Fort dating from the 1930s with pictorial frescoes, generator in perfect condition and gun casemates
Fort Battice is one of four forts built in the 1930s. In May 1940, it withstood a twelve-day siege by German artillery and aircraft. The internal organs, thirty meters underground, are well worth a visit, despite the equipment removed in the 1960s. Also worth seeing: striking pictorial frescoes, a generator in perfect condition, firing casemates for 60 mm cannon and a fully restored machine gun. Bring warm clothing and walking shoes.
