THIL CASTLE
It is known, from a secure source, that a medieval castle was here at the beginning of the th century but legend claims that it is one of the oldest castles in France, perhaps it existed under Charlemagne… The site is conducive to a defensive occupation: with its 400 m altitude, the Butte butte dominates the region and gives on one side on the valley of the Armençon, on the other on Morvan. The point of view is superb and the Romans built a Town. The current building is impressive. Majestic partridge leads to the fortress surrounded by thick walls of enceinte. The wine cellars, whose vaults blend Romanesque and Gothic style, date from the th century, the XIV dungeon. Nicknamed "the sentinel of the Auxois", the watch tower measuring nearly 30 metres high is kilometres away. During the visit, don't miss the huge chimneys of the kitchen and imagine that you could roast a whole beef here! The castle now belongs to a passionate couple of passionate people: Percival and Catherine Verdon. Glenn, says Percival Verdon, is a Knight of Arts and Letters but also magician, stunt stunt, actor. Besides guided tours for groups and schools, it offers magic tricks, games and puzzles. Every summer, the couple organizes a great medieval feast with a market of another time. They have brilliantly enriched their heritage… by giving him life! Bas hat to these modern troubadours!
