One of the oldest dams in Europe to hold back the waters of the Gileppe and Louba rivers, a tower with a view of the Lion monument

The site is impressive! It is one of the oldest dams in Europe. Built between 1869 and 1878 to retain the waters of the Gileppe and the Louba rivers, mainly due to the needs of the textile industry in the region. A 77-metre-high panoramic tower allows you to take in the lake and the Hertogenwald forest at a glance, as well as the Lion Monument, the work of the sculptor Félix Bouré, weighing a modest 36 tonnes. An ideal place for a walk or bike ride or to sit down to a restaurant or tea-room with a view. Guided tour of the site.

Lieu pour se ballader avec un superbe paysage depuis le chemin au lion ou depuis la tour. Ensuite vous entrez dans les bois. Paisible, vue magnifique sur le lac du barrage et sur les bois. Assez reposant et idéal pour faire du sport ou promener en famille.

Le site du barrage de La Gileppe présente plusieurs atouts : le barrage lui-même avec le lion, des sentiers de promenade dans un cadre magnifique au cœur de la forêt de l'Hertogenwald, un parcours d'accrobranche dans l’AccroPark à côté d’une tour panoramique ainsi qu'une plaine de jeux pour les enfants. Grâce à 2 ascenseurs panoramiques entièrement gratuits on peut monter au sommet de la tour où un restaurant offre un panorama à 360° ainsi qu’une cuisine agréable. Bref, un site incontournable dans la région à visiter pour le plaisir.

très nature, on peut faire le tour du lac en vélo et de nombreuses promenades à pied sont possibles. On peut monter dans la tour pour avoir un magnifique point de vue et une brasserie restaurant y est installée.
