Basilica on Mount St. Martin, place of the first celebration of Corpus Christi, houses a gray tower and a Gothic nave

It is on Mont Saint-Martin, the Publémont, that the Collegiate Church was built. It has a magnificent grey tower that was used to defend the city. It was Eracle who, at the end of the 10th century, made the decision to build the building. Saint-Martin was the scene of the first celebration of Corpus Christi. Following rebellions, aristocrats from Liège were murdered there in 1312. Charles the Bold's troops attacked the collegiate church again in 1468. After a final reconstruction, a Gothic nave was erected.
