COLLEGIATE CHURCH OF SAINT-JACQUES
Collegiate church away from the hypercenter, an ode to light and flamboyant gothic, decorated with beautiful stained glass windows from the 16th century
A little way from the city center, in the corner formed by the Destenay and d'Avroy boulevards, the Saint-Jacques collegiate church is an ode to light and flamboyant Gothic architecture. Its great apparent coherence should not obscure its more ancient history, linked to the creation of a Benedictine abbey on this site in 1015, nor the "touches" added by Lambert Lombard and Jean Del Cour. Designed by architect Arnold van Mulken, who also designed the Prince-Bishop's Palace, Saint-Jacques was adorned with sumptuous16th-century stained-glass windows.
