Museum suggesting a very interesting and moving guided tour with former miners
The Beringen mine closed in 1989. Almost the entire mine site has been preserved as is; from the headframes, industrial buildings, garden cities, to the slag heaps and the Warden's Park! The museum explains what a coal mine was and how it worked. A very interesting and quite moving visit, as former miners guide you through corridors reconstructed as mining galleries and a video shows their daily life.
