Information center in Hasselt with a detailed history of Herkenrode Abbey with an interactive audio guide
The abbey was a monastery of Cistercian nuns founded in 1182. Its history is described in detail at the Information Center, in the former stables and carriage house, through a 600-year history of the women of Herkenrode. The audioguide "L'abbesse raconte" also immerses you in an interactive experience. The boutique offers books, gourmet products, spices and Trappist beers. From April to November, visitors can also explore the plant garden and take a bike ride through the heart of the estate.
